The Tourist Corridor: the 20 miles where the swimmable beaches are

The Tourist Corridor is the 20-mile stretch of Highway 1 between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, and it holds the region's best swimmable beaches — Chileno, Santa María and Palmilla — plus most of the luxury resorts. You need a car or taxi for everything; nothing here is walkable.

The Corridor is not a town. It is a highway with resort gates on the seaward side and desert on the other, and its value is entirely in the beaches and the hotels that front them.

Chileno Bay and Santa María Cove are both protected areas with public access from the highway, and both are genuinely good. Palmilla is the third swimmable beach, larger and calmer, with a boat launch.

Staying here means taxis. A one-way trip to Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo runs $25–$45 and there is no walkable alternative for dinner.
