Los Cabos
Tequila and mezcal tasting in Los Cabos: what is real and what is a sales pitch
Tequila tastings in Los Cabos cost $45–$110 per person for one to three hours. No tequila is distilled in Baja California Sur — by law it comes from Jalisco and four other states — so what you are booking is a guided tasting, not a distillery tour, regardless of how it is advertised.

Tequila has a denomination of origin. It can only be produced in Jalisco and designated municipalities of Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit and Tamaulipas. Baja California Sur is not on that list and never has been.
What Los Cabos has is tasting rooms, and some of them are good. A proper flight walks you across blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo, explains the additive question honestly, and pours mezcal alongside for contrast.
Tastings are frequently bundled into ATV, camel and Todos Santos tours, where they add $20–$30 to the ticket and about 40 minutes to the day.
Best based in San José del Cabo. Season: Year-round.
