Sailing catamarans occupy the useful middle of the Los Cabos boat market. They cost roughly twice a party-boat ticket and a fifth of a private charter, and they cap guest numbers low enough that you get a seat, a view and a conversation.

The standard itinerary runs out past Land's End, north along the Corridor to Santa María or Chileno for a 45-minute snorkel stop, then back under sail if the wind cooperates.

Wind is most reliable in winter and spring. In September and October the water is warmest but the afternoon can go glassy, which means motoring.

Best based in Cabo San Lucas. Season: Year-round; calmest November–April.
